Hey folks,

Jan's Quest has worked great for me so far, all the cut scenes have been good, but I'm stuck at the part where I'm supposed to go to the Dock's District and replace the Telescope Lens with the Defective Lens. I've got the Defective Lens, but the real Lens is not in the Barrel.

Forgive me if it's not the correct place to post this, it's my first post (I created an account just for this )
I know I'm unearthing quite an old thread, but I'm sure I'm not the only one playing this mod in 2025, and I hope this may potentially help people that would run into the same problems.
I'm making this post cause I've been replaying BG (1, Dragonspear, 2) on an Android tablet (the Enhanced Editions), with various mods.
First of all, I've been following this very detailed tutorial in order to install mods on an Android device, and have been playing the modded games successfully since.

Until this mod. I'm gonna detail my troubleshooting and resolution, bc I know people do mod their android versions of the games, but not that many tutorial and solutions are out there, so I hope it'll maybe be useful to someone.
When I started BG2, I installed this mod the same way as all WeiDU mods. But when I finally got to the beginning of Jan's Extended Quest in game, when a character comes to fetch you a bit after finishing the original quest, my game kept crashing. Since it clearly came from the attempt at teleporting the party, I managed to recreate the crash by trying to teleport via Console to any of the mod's areas (E_JAR0, E_JAR1, etc.). Which lead me to look for potentially faulty area files, and I noticed all the corresponding TIS area files were missing.
Uninstalling/reinstalling the mod, I noticed the last command of the tp2 setup file called for the execution of a .BAT file, which failed (with a confusing 'permission denied' error) but without failing and rolling back the weiDU installation (so I had missed this error when first installing). I saw that this JanQuest/Install.bat (and the corresponding Uninstall.bat) file converted audio ogg to wav files, and unpacked .TIZ to .TIS tilesets. Boom, thus my missing files and crash upon teleporting.
Since .bat files don't work as is with Termux on android (and installing wine felt too convoluted), I rewrote Install.sh and Uninstall.sh unix shell script files, and also modified the end of the Setup-JanQuest.tp2 installation file to check for the OS version and launch the correct scripts (bat or sh) accordingly.

I'm including my scripts here, and the modified tp2 installation file, for potential android users that want to play this really cool mod and have the installation go smoothly
Since the windows .exe included in the mod also don't work, this solution requires downloading
1) oggdec from termux to convert the ogg files into wav format
2) TISpack from the official site and compile your own tisunpack, to convert the .tiz into .tis tilesets files
I've detailed in the install.sh file in comments all the process: where to put files, how to change execution rights etc., but can reexplain here if need be
All the files, Setup-Janquest.tp2, Install.sh and Uninstall.sh should be placed at the root of JanQuest/ directory (where Install.bat and Uninstall.bat already are), I recommend copying first the original Setup-JanQuest.tp2 into a Setup-JanQuest.tp2.bckp, just in case
I've tested on my tablet and played the mod successfully with these small modifications, but feel free to ask me for clarifications or help, or tell me of any errors I may have missed.

I'm glad I insisted after the first few crashes to pinpoint the problem, bc it was a really nice mod, and I enjoyed finally getting closure for Jan Jansen

Heu, pourquoi moi ? C'est du ressort d'AkaDis et Kasumi, non ? Et si je fais la correction, je met la nouvelle version où ? J'an's Extended quest n'a rien à faire sur Plutonuim_X, il est hébergé chez Akadis.

Ok, en admettant que je m'y mette (ce qui est déjà fait, en fait), il faudrait donc que je propose une version à laquelle je rajouterait le commentaire "pour installer sur une tablette android vous devez d'abord télécharger Oggdeck et Tispack sur votre tablette" ? Vive le bordel.
Je préfère dans ce cas proposer une version "unpacked" sans install.bam et avec des wavs et tis déjà décompactés et prêt à installer "normalement" sur tout supports (testé, ça fait un mod à 69 mos). (avec le "WeiDU Mod Packager de Argent77" sur Github ça se converti automatiquement pour Win, Mac et Linux)

Comme tu avais déjà proposé ton aide plus haut pour convertir le mod afin qu'il soit compatible avec BG2EE, je me disais que tu avais une connaissance assez solide sur le mod, à vrai dire

Mais je ne me rends pas du tout compte de la complexité de l'opération, donc désolé si c'est le cas ; le but n'était pas du tout de te mettre dans l'embarras à ce sujet.
